- The last 15 days were extremely eventful, emotional and fun. I made a trip back to Mumbai and attended two family functions a Navjote and a Wedding, caught up with my cousin’s many who I haven’t seen in years, caught up with ex work colleagues, ate street food, picked up a stomach flu, talked to parents about marriage, made friends with a stranger on my flight back to Singapore, helped organize a new year count down party and last but not the least ushered in the new-year with Ms. Right.
- I met an interesting 20 something youngster called Siddarth who happened to sit next to me on my way to Singapore. He was on his way to Brisbane for a course that would help him chase his dream of becoming a star actor and director in Bollywood. I could tell that this was his first flight ever as he was extremely nervous. His passion and spirit of making something of himself impressed me. He is leaving behind his comfortable family business to pursue his Bollywood dreams. “I want everyone next time to say that Siddarth the famous Bollywood personality is traveling with them in the same flight” says this enthusiastic 20 year old. All the best Siddarth, my heart says you will meet your goal some day if you keep the passion and the never say die spirit.
- My Aunty pointed out some interesting facts about Wadia’s when I met her on my trip to India. She said that Wadia’s were illustrious ship builders of India. And more specific to my dad’s side of family she said we were hardworking, sincere and hypochondriacs. To this my girlfriend said ‘Bingo’. I think she was referring to the hypochondriac bit :).
- I found some witty comments on these promo stickers put up in a cab in Mumbai from ‘Star One-Great Indian laughter challenge’. They went like this …“Help a man when he is in trouble and he will remember you when he is in trouble again” “Careful with that light at the end of tunnel, it might be another train coming.”
- Posted some pictures from our countdown party on New Years Eve night. My buddy Brendan was at his best rallying everyone to dance away till the clocks struck midnight. I posted a video on YouTube for entertainment valueJ.
- Finally wishing everyone a Blessed 2008. May no heart’s be broken this year and may smiles adorn everyone through out 2008. Let's all do our part to make 2008 happy for our friends, family and colleagues.

- Its no secret to my close friends that i have a strong desire to have the gift of spontaneity and out of the box thinking. Over the years i have earned the dubious reputation from my friends of being a balloon poker but off-course in the positive sense. When they have a great ideas they come to me to seek assistance in finding all the possible flaws. It benefits them as they know which areas to cover up and take calculated risk. But in reality i would love to trade my levelheadedness, logical thinking for that streak of spontaneity and being an out of the box thinker. I have made small beginnings made in this area by changing my response to "It will work provided you take care of blah blah" from "It will not work because of blah blah".
- Philosophy of Racism. Every wondered why people are racist? Some of the reasons i can think of are. a) Fear of the unknown or lack of understanding of another culture. b) Believing one's race is superior to another. c) Hand me down mindsets from one generation to another. d) Insecurity that one race will dominate economically. e) Fear of loosing one's identity f) Prejudice thinking formed by one bad experience with a race. I have a little prayer that people judge me by my deeds and my character before they decide to write me off.
- I feel all of us grow up with similar concepts of right and wrong and most of the times we know when we are doing the wrong thing. Sometimes we justify our wrongs blaming it on our circumstances surrounding us. Sometimes it’s the attitude that this is what everyone is doing so why should I loose out. Sometimes we are just plain tired of doing the right thing and it getting us no results. But the scary thing that seems to be the trend now is that moral values are being stretched like gum on the pretext of modern thinking and being free spirited and some people are even made heroes for it. What this world needs are more positive role models.
- Students prepare for exams, candidates prepare for job interviews, actors rehearse their lines, sportsmen & women train for the games then why do most people don't prepare for marriage considering its one of the most important decisions of life.
- Be in constant touch with your emotions and bad decision making will leave you.

- Lets learn not to overdramatise our problems, rather focus on solutions. Repeatedly talking about a problem doesn't make it go away.

Whenever we are in the starting and growing years of our career we often get bogged down by concerns of money, position and unrealistic time-lines to achieve our goals. Sooner or later these concerns become counterproductive and just paralyse us as individuals. I guess over time everyone will eventually learn how to deal with these concerns in their own ways. Whenever i do feel that i am lagging behind in my goals and others are ahead of me i take comfort in the fact that being behind 2 or 3 years in an average career span of 40 years is not that bad. Its a matter of time when you can close in on the gap and maybe overtake as well. As long we stay on course and be sincere about our goals we will soon have our fair share of success.
I found this below quote extremely relevant and thought provoking and i hope it comforts and inspires us to be patient.
'Many years ago Rudyard Kipling an address at McGill University in Montreal. He said one striking thing which which deserves to be remembered. Warning the students against an over-concern for money, or position, or glory, he said: "Some day you will met a man who cares for none of these things. Then you will know how poor you are." - Halford E. Luccock

Five things are happening in your house at the same time. In which
sequence would you solve them?
1. The telephone is ringing!
2. The baby is crying!
3. Someone's knocking or calling you from the front door!
4. You hung the clothes out to dry and it is beginning to rain!
5. You left the tap on in the kitchen and the water is already overflowing!
In which sequence would you solve these problems? First write YOUR sequence from 1 to 5 then click below and read after!
BUT BE HONEST, THE FINDINGS ARE EXCITING.

I was at a seminar last Saturday and i heard this statistic from one of the speakers as he quoted a researcher. Later on I went on to the internet to find the source and found it to be true. And I was just thinking to myself that there are so many things in life that we can have a wrong perception about.
Falling Coconuts Kill More People Than Shark Attacks"
"Falling coconuts kill 150 people worldwide each year, 15 times the number of fatalities attributable to sharks," said George Burgess, Director of the University of Florida's International Shark Attack File and a noted shark researcher.

- In the end your success and happiness in life is not determined by the degrees and education you may have but is determined by your attitude and hunger to do well in life.
- If you don’t know the answers don’t be shy to ask.
- You never know, you may make a friend for life if you initiate a conversation with a stranger. Better still they may be able to help you with what you currently need.
- Use every occasion possible to look and dress your best.
- Prayers make a difference and it gives you that extra edge that you may need in addition to being well prepared.
- Be nice to domestic help and treat them as family and they will give in their extra bit to make you more comfortable.
- Be friendly and mix around in social gatherings you never know what you learn from a conversation.
- Keeping personal relationships with friends and close family is important.
- One must enjoy their food.

For quite awhile i was a drifter untill i learned the hard way. I learnt that we must not expect much achievement in our life if we constantly catch ourselves using these answers.
What do you want to eat? Anything.
Where do you want to go out? Anywhere.
What is your plan for tomorrow? Not sure.
When do you plan to start chasing that dream you have? The time is not right.
Not knowing what you want is a luxury we can no longer afford in this highly competitive world, unless we prefer taking the backseat always. If we don’t have a plan for our life and we are constantly indecisive then we will be at the mercy of other people’s plans. We always seem to love status quo where nothing ever changes and we get comfortable with our circumstances. We just get these many chances in life and if we are saying ‘pass’ too often then we are surely loosing out.

It’s no great secret that a substantial part of the women population is attracted to the bad boys. You will find tons of information in books and on the internet pointing towards this trend. Talk to all the nice guys out there trying to hook a woman and they will surely nod their heads in disappointment agreeing with this fact. Many women also admit that they just have a soft corner for this specific category of men. Watching this phenomenon closely over past couple of years I can think of some reasons that contributes to this fatal attraction. Some women find these men exciting to be with and feel that there is a constant thrill that they get by being in their presence. Some of these men exuberate a great deal of confidence and cockiness which just gets the so called love chemistry going in a woman. Some woman love the challenge that comes with a man like that, “I want to change him for the better” she says. And some women are just in that phase of life where they feel it’s better to be with Mr. Wrong till they find their Mr. Right. Anyway my post is not to analysis why women fall for bad guys but just to give a heads up to women who constantly fall for the wrong men. The problem with these women is that the things that get them interested in a man in the first place are seldom the things they look for in their prospective future partners. It is as if these two are separate things and for some reason their expectation is that the naughty bad guy will soon transform into this loving, committed and stable man. I am not saying it never happens but chances are very slim. What makes the situation worse is that most of these guys know the effect they have on women and use it to their advantage. They have this great ability to dramatize their life and make you feel that you are a part of a movie. They know exactly who their target is and how to lay the bait. The sad part is that the moment you loose his attention and he gets what he wants he is off onto his next prey leaving his victim feeling used and further away from their long term goal of a stable relationship. Ask him for a commitment and that’s the probably the last time you will see him. I have seen many examples of woman not able to recover from a fall like this and they just get trapped in the vicious circle of one bad boy after another. The fact of the matter is most men know exactly what they want out of a relationship and their intensions vary from casual to serious. If you’re not happy about where you stand in his life and his intension index at a given point in time then the best advice I can give you is “Move on”. And what should the nice guys do? Move their lazy butts and garner the courage to go and win the woman's heart, cause if it wasn’t for their cowardice we would never have the problem of bad boys in the first place.
"What the Modern Woman Wants" - Winning Entry of the 2004 Commonwealth Essay
An essay written by a 15-year-old Singaporean student, Amanda Chong, which won the 2004 Commonwealth Essay Competition. Amanda, a Secondary School student, beat more than 5,000 other contestants to win this prize which was organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS). Its a great read and a very touching piece of writing illustrating how some of us can view our parents as an embarrassment and an impediment to our success in life. Its a classic example of modern materialism taking us away from the meaningful lives we should be living.

He sent me an Angel to touch my heart
When my heart was nursing wounds
He sent me an Angel to make me believe
When I stopped believing in purity of love
He sent me an Angel to make me believe
When I stopped believing in myself
He sent me an Angel to make me believe
When I stopped believing that people can care
He sent me an Angel to make me strong
When this world was breaking me inside
He sent me an Angel to make me strong
When this world wanted me to bend my values
He sent me an Angel to keep me good
When this world chose to show me only the bad survive
He sent me an Angel to rekindle my Angel inside.
When my heart was nursing wounds
He sent me an Angel to make me believe
When I stopped believing in purity of love
He sent me an Angel to make me believe

Living and traveling abroad you often get asked this question, so what is it like being an Indian in a foreign land? What do people identify an Indian with? Are you special or discriminated? Do you stand out? Are you treated well? Do you get equal opportunities? In my opinion there isn’t any one answer and in my 4 years of traveling and one year of living out I have seen a spectrum of responses like – bollywood, spicy food, software, brown skin, can’t be trusted, talk too much, cricket, sharukh khan, booming economy, extremely poor, labor class, wife beaters, intellectuals, beautiful women, unhealthy food, horny men, motels, wild elephants. These are just a few that I can remember but I am positive there are loads more. It’s only after living abroad that I have realized what a tremendous responsibility I carry on my shoulder. Most of the times my behavior will represent the image of my country. The temptation from locals of typecasting a foreigner by his nationality is really high and expected. That’s why your lifestyle has a bearing on the image of your country. Unfortunately many Indians living abroad don’t view it this way. They don’t seem to get that what other people may experience in their interactions with them will probably be the last and only opinion they will carry in their minds about Indian’s. I have encountered a fair share of bad behavior from fellow Indians and its easy to see some clear stereotypes – stewardesses serving are our servants, white and asian women are an easy lay, littering is our birthright, etiquettes in public are for the English not us, jumping a queue is only way to get a cab. It’s really disappointing when many locals write you off because they have had a bad experience with an Indian before. Ofcourse there are those racist’s as well for whom not matter what you do you are still no good. I guess the way one needs to manage this is to remember the compliments and forget the insults. Anyway no one said living abroad was easy but I do hope that the new breed of Indians traveling and living abroad bear in mind that we are the face of India to the world community and we must do all it takes to make our country proud.

A wife mentioned to her husband that for her birthday, she would like something that accelerates from 0 to 100 in four seconds.
She was expecting something like this............

( But her husband presented her with something very different... )

I must admit that in the past i have been guilty of being easily overwhelmed with emotion by an inspiring speech, a touching movie or an electrifying concert that has made me go – “It was Awesome”. And as I write this post I just hope that my frequent awesomes don’t dilute the experience that I am writing about. Let me for the record state that nothing has come even close to what I have experienced last Saturday when I heard Nick Vujicic speak in Singapore. It was simply magical and I am surprised that I have never heard of him before. I know for a fact that a lot of my friends out there are still to discover him and hence this post of mine. I have often been embarrassed about shedding tears in public especially the in-flight movies when the stewardess seems to appear only when you’re weeping like a baby :)). But this time I had the company of thousands who had tears rolling down their face. Nick Vijucic was born without limbs and his story is worth being explored and told. I won't say that hearing him has changed my life but it has definitely made me make some decisions that will fundamentally change my future. And I am quite positive if you read about him or get a chance to hear him, you will be inspired too. Maybe it will inspire you to write that book you always wanted to, pursue your forgoten dreams, better your relationships, get closer to your family and most importantly get closer to God. Its not about if Nick can be happy and successful why can’t I, it’s about knowing that there is a plan for all of us and that we need to patient and seek it.
